At OHS, we know that wellbeing is essential for both academic success and personal growth. We believe in the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of health, and support our students to look after all aspects of their wellbeing.
Our Hauora Centre offers a range of resources to support students along their journey at OHS.
We have a team of four qualified and experienced counsellors who support students to navigate challenges, manage their feelings and behaviours, and discover their strengths. This team is supported by a clinical psychologist, and the counsellors can arrange for further specialist mental health services where required.
We have three registered nurses who provide a range of primary healthcare services, including management of long-term health conditions and medications. Our nursing team offer a full health assessment to every Year 9 student in their first year at OHS. This team is supported by a GP and a physiotherapist, and the nurses can arrange for further secondary services such as dental care and vision testing.
Please feel free to contact us at any time with questions or concerns about your rangatahi. Please note that we are with students for most of the day – the best way to get hold of us is to email, and the first available person will get back to you. If you would like to call us but cannot get through, please do leave a voicemail and we will call you back as soon as we can.
