We are delighted to welcome Ms. Katelyn Coogan, to OHS.
Ms. Coogan is teaching Drama and Dance and has already had a positive impact on her students, who appreciate the performance experience she brings to the role.
Originally from Manawatu, Ms. Coogan spent several years teaching dance at the Rose Academy, a distinguished boutique dance institution in Palmerston North.
She has been acting since the age of 6 and has performed some notable roles, including playing Snow White, in ‘Snow White’, Benjamin, in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat’ and Rosie, in ‘Mamma Mia’.
The Year 10 Drama students are preparing their performances which are in the melodrama genre while senior drama students are preparing for their commedia dell’arte-inspired pieces. Both will be performed in week 10.
Junior dance students' are thoroughly enjoying learning dances from musical theatre. Senior dance students' are working on ensemble dances. They are learning the choreography of ‘Dancing Through Life’ from the musical ‘Wicked’.
There is so much energy and enthusiasm in the Performing Arts Department and we look forward to some wonderful performances.
