Prefects and their whānau enjoyed an evening to celebrate their success this week.
The evening was opened by the principal, Ms.Shameen Hayat, who welcomed guests to the school. Ms. Hayat spoke of the considerable achievement it was to be selected to this leadership position. She acknowledged the role families of prefects play in preparing their young people to be the very best they can be and for supporting them in all they do.
Member of Parliament for Maungakiekie, Mr Greg Fleming addressed the gathering and spoke of the qualities effective leaders have. He emphasised that leadership is a service role. Good leaders are there to serve others, this requires them to put their prejudices aside and truly listen to the needs and opinions of others.
