Junior Prize Giving Ceremony

Junior Prize Giving Ceremony

We celebrated the considerable achievements of our junior akonga in an Awards ceremony on Tuesday. It was wonderful to have so many whānau and friends join us for the celebration.

The ceremony opened with a Karakia led by Lucy Sinclair and a Mihimihi led by Carter Hayward.

Principal Shameen Hayat addressed the school saying how proud she was of the considerable achievements of students academically and in the sporting and cultural spaces. Ms Hayat congratulated all students on their achievements and in particular the students who were receiving awards.  She thanked the staff for the dedication, energy, and expertise they brought to the school. Ms Hayat acknowledged the Senior Leaders, Deans, teaching staff and support staff, all play an important role in ensuring each student reaches their personal goals.

Emma Roberts and Cleo Milne entertained us with a polished performance of ‘Goodluck Babe’ by Chappell Roan. Isabella Cathro, and Temo Saukura were supported by Abigail and Reuben Haitoa in a wonderful performance of ‘These Days’ by Rudimental.

Many talented and hardworking students were recognised for their achievements in three categories; academic excellence, outstanding effort and service to the school. Congratulations to all award winners.

The most prestigious academic award of the ceremony is the Elma Aitken Junior Merit Cup awarded for outstanding academic achievement. This year’s recipient was Cleo Milne.

Cleo Received Academic Excellence Awards in Year 10: Chinese, English, Health, Mathematics, Physical Education, Science and Social Studies. Cleo was the Top Year 10 student in English, Music and Social Studies.
