Congratulations, Kate Crews and Tia Woodley who are this year's recipients of the Fran Compton Awards for OHS teachers who demonstrate outstanding pedagogical practice, which has led to successful learner outcomes.
Kate Crews, is an experienced science and specialist chemistry teacher whose can-do spirit and commitment to academic rigour have been crucial to the Science department’s success, with significant student achievement gains as a result. Kate has been key in developing strong pedagogy within her department and is an effective and generous mentor to pre-service and less experienced teachers. Outside the classroom, Kate has set up and led the Duke of Edinburgh group, coordinating hikes, first aid courses, and camping trips during weekends and holidays. In the winter she can be found managing Netball teams.
Tia Woodley, teaching in the Art Department, has just completed her third year in teaching. Her passion for teaching is evident and infectious. Her strong pedagogical practice has seen her students achieve outstanding results. Tia provides a lot of extra support for her students running regular lunchtime tutorials. She is a leader of the Arts Council and made a significant contribution to planning the inaugural Arts Awards Evening. As the school photographer Tia has dedicated a lot of her time to the school.
Congratulations Kate and Tia, you are worthy recipients of the Fran Compton Awards.
