The students and staff of the OHS Building and Construction School have successfully completed their 12th house. This is the 3rd that they have built for Kāinga Ora.
The house has been loaded onto a trailer ready for removal this evening. This is an exciting time for students and staff and marks the culmination of a year's hard work.
The students who have been fortunate enough to be involved in the project, leave with advanced skills that will give them a headstart in the industry and a good knowledge of what to expect on a construction worksite.
As always we would like to thank our volunteers, Rotarians Mr Peter Mayow and Mr Ernie Meyer, who have continued their involvement with the projects from the very first house. Mr Meyer, a retired builder spends a considerable amount of time every week at school, on site, upskilling students. You are a legend Mr Meyer.
Congratulations to the staff and students who have worked on completing this project.
