Year 11 Awards Ceremony 2024.

Tali Feu’u opened the Year 11 Award Ceremony with a Karakia followed by a Mihimihi delivered by Leigh’Gin Kuluia Hampton- Toko-Mikahere. A rousing Waiata Tautoko was performed by the Kapa Haka Rōpū.

Principal, Ms Shameen Hyat addressed the school thanking the students for their efforts this year and congratulating every student who had achieved their best whether or not they were receiving an award. Ms Hyat thanked the parents, guardians and whanau for their support, which is essential for student success. She thanked teachers and staff for their, “full commitment, their patience and unwavering belief in each student’s potential.”  Ms Hyat encouraged every student to “set your sights high, put in the work to reach your goals and know everything you take on will only make you stronger.”

Entertainment was provided by Bethany Morgan and Megan Webb who danced “I Miss You” to an appreciative audience. The Year 11 band, the Fixed Crew, comprising of Wynter Looker, Genesis Pome’e, Lavinia Kolofoua, David Tu’ifua, Julian Beddgood-Mapa and Henry Warner gave an excellent rendition of ‘Don’t Let Go”, by Spawn Breezy.

Congratulations to all award winners and in particular the following students who received special awards:

Caitlin Tahilanu- DHB Top Level 1 Pasifika Student, Health Science Academy.

Tali Feu’u- DHB Level 1 Pasifika Young Leader, Health Science.

Welele Loti Rapana- Lee Warn Award. A student of considerable potential.

Congratulations Sarah Hellyer Year 11 Top Scholar.

Sarah’s grade point average over her top 80 credits is predicted to be 100%. Sarah is on track to achieve NCEA Level 1 with excellence endorsement. Congratulations Sarah!
