Not for the faint hearted, the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge, held at the Kumeu Showgrounds is a grueling 6 km mud run. Competitors run through mud, over and under obstacles as fast as they can.
Students from Level 3 PED AND L3CPE, took part in this year’s event, which formed part of their assessment for NCEA credits. They had to race and complete the course that included, swamp crossings, a spider web net climb, a crawl under barbed wire, beautiful native bush trails, tunnels, hurdles, a climbing frame and mud mud and more mud!
Students had a wonderful day and finished covered in mud and very tired but with a huge sense of accomplishment and pride, having challenged themselves and demonstrated loyalty and courage in the race to the finish line.
Our students proved they are indeed tough, as did Ms Cheshire and Mr Gallardo who completed the course with students! With over 1000 participants from schools all over Auckland, this is a very competitive challenge. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
