It was wonderful to see former pupil, Mike Haturini back at OHS for the roof-shout today.
Mike was in the first intake of the Building and Construction School in 2005. At that time students built cabins and worked around the school. Mike excelled and won the Top of the Building School prize that year and was given a building apprenticeship by Fletcher Construction. After completing his apprenticeship he went on to become a site foreman and then a project manager for Fletchers. Mike left Fletchers to start his own successful construction company ‘Complex Builders’, building high end homes and commercial developments.
An inspiring role model for our students, Mike encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities they have, to look at him and know that they could be where he is, if they are motivated enough.
