Remembering When Tim Finn Came to OHS.

Remembering When Tim Finn Came to OHS.

Del Gee is an OHS alumna and is the school archivist. She shares a special moment for the school from 1989 when Tim Finn came to visit.

TIM FINN WOWS OHS

One lunchtime in 1989 remains a special memory for the OHS students and staff who filled the school hall that day.  With just a guitar and amplifier the Australian based musician Tim Finn wowed the audience with a free lunchtime concert featuring all his hit songs.

The school was granted the free lunchtime concert after former seventh form pupil Ian Warn won a poster competition. The competition was open to secondary students throughout Auckland. Students were asked to design artwork depicting the story of Taranaki settlement Parihaka, which was also the name of Finn’s latest single.  Ian Warn who was studying graphic design at Wellington Polytechnic was flown to Auckland especially for the occasion.
