Each year OHS students benefit from the generosity of supporters of the school, who provide various scholarships to deserving students.
These awards provide recipients with opportunities to further their study and develop their talents.
Earlier this year Cameron Ross and Nu’ufou Telea attended the Geelong Summer Music camp, having been awarded the Red Eagle Music Scholarship generously provided by Heather and Tony Falkenstein.
The camp held at Geelong Christian College an hour out of Melbourne was a wonderful experience. Cameron, a percussionist was in the Stage Band group while Nu’ufou was assigned to the vocalist group and was chosen to perform a solo at the final concert. They both agree that they learnt a tremendous amount from both their tutors and fellow musicians. They loved the experience of being totally immersed in music, making new friends and in their limited down time, seeing a little bit of Geelong. Cameron explains “This was an eye-opening experience, where we could explore areas of music, we hadn’t previously been involved in. Being with talented and enthusiastic students and tutors was a great environment to build our skills.”
Cameron and Nu’ufou are grateful to Heather and Tony Falkenstein for providing them with this wonderful opportunity.
